Jeana Gooden Hair
Professional Freelance Hair Designer
I began hairdressing in 1996, starting out as full time apprentice hairdresser at the Hilton. Trained under the watchful eye of expert Hair Stylist, Barry Holt I quickly realised I had a natural passion and creativity for hairdressing. Having earned my City and Guilds Hairdressing NVQ, I moved to Toni&Guy and retrained as a technician. It was at Toni&Guy that I began specialising in colour, afro hairstyling, relaxing, perming and wedding hair. I loved the fast-paced salon atmosphere at Toni&Guy but decided I wanted a fresh challenge.
My next move was a little unconventional and perhaps the most challenging of my career; working in a luxury spa on cruise ship. I specialised in cutting, colouring and blow-drying, and creating elegant wedding hair for brides marrying on private islands around the Bahamas. On board the ship I got to cut, colour and style clients of over fifty five different nationalities, 12 hours a day, six days a week. This role provided me with invaluable experience and competency that now allows me to deliver all my clients with a high class, salon quality hairdressing service.
Following my time on the cruise ship I returned to Toni&Guy, continuing to develop as high level hair technician. I also got the chance to help train some of the Toni&Guy hairdressing apprentices.
In 2010 I decided to branch out as a Freelance Hairdresser, taking salon level expertise to the homes of my clients. In 2011 I completed two intensive advanced cutting and colouring courses with Metin Warwick, celebrity hair stylist. In 2012 I qualified to practice the Brazilian Blow Dry, Yuko Straightening Treatment and Yuko Anti-Frizz Treatment. In 2015 I completed a course in Micro Loop and Micro Ring extensions. These courses have enabled me to continuing operating at the highest professional level even though I am no longer salon-based.
